For the first time in a hundred years, an international design tender was launched for the construction of a new Danube bridge in Budapest. In addition to the three prize-winners, one of the three winning entries – as the best domestic applicant among the well-known foreign companies – was awarded to Pont-Terv Ltd. and A.D.U. Architects.
The task was to design a road, tram, bicycle and pedestrian connection that, with its unique structure, could even become a symbol of Budapest. The slender network arches of our proposal were inspired by the flight of the seagulls and the movement of birds taking off.
