Our office has been invited to make a feasibility study of a record-breaking pedestrian catenary bridge in an adventure park in Sátoraljaújhely. Considering the 80 m height over the ground, static extra loading due to icing and the possible dangerous structural vibrations caused by wind gusts proved to be the most important tasks to deal with. Based on our detailed static and dynamic studies the span length was proposed to be maximized in 700 m in order to ensure the safe operation. In addition, the main cables were designed in an overhead arrangement and wind cables were included for the necessary spatial stiffness of the catenary.
