RECONSTRUCTION OF THE RÁBA BRIDGE AT MARCALTŐ

The bridge across the River Rába at Marcaltő was built after World War II. from the material of other destroyed bridges. During the reconstruction in 2011-2012 the RC deck of the tied-arch river-bridge was replaced for an orthotropic steel deck, and the tie-rods were replaced as well. The main arches and the suspension rods were kept after the necessary repairs. The composite beam structure of the two-span flood bridge was fully replaced. The road profile was corrected in order to achieve the necessary longitudinal grade. During the deck replacement the key question was the stability of the arches.
