SEBES-KÖRÖS BRIDGE AT ORADEA

We made a feasibility study for a road and bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the Sebes-Körös River in the downtown of Oradea. The main structural elements are the vertical pair of steel arches. The composite deck is suspended by cables in radial arrangement. Special attention was paid on the ice flow, which is not without precedent in the history of the city despite the rather low water yield. The arches were designed not to be lowered into the river bed in order to avoid ice collision, therefore the bridge is not be blended in the terrain, but the safety of the structure is of utmost importance.
