MÁRIA VALÉRIA BRIDGE

The Mária Valéria Bridge -built in 1895- was blown up during World War II. Its long-awaited reconstruction restored the direct connection between the cities of Esztergom in Hungary and Sturovo (Párkány) in Slovakia.

The repaired main trusses of the side spans received a new orthotropic steel deck. The central river spans and the small approach bridge were rebuilt in a form corresponding to the original structure, but in a modern welded design. The railings, candelabras and lamps were made in an original, contemporary design as well.
