SZAPÁRY BRIDGE

The M4 Motorway crosses the Tisza on the Szapáry Bridge, which is Hungary’s longest span beam bridge. It has distinct superstructures for both carriageways, consisting of a constant-height steel box cross section and an orthotropic deck. The bridge was launched in one piece from one side of the river. Auxiliary supports were applied in the riverbed and also a steel nose was suspended on auxiliary masts due to the significant cantilever length.
